Cherokee Web Server v1.0 released

The Cherokee Web Server relase 1.0 is officially out!

After the celebration of the first International Summit of the Cherokee-Project, the release of the long awaited 1.0 version of this High Performance Web Server is now a reality.

Cherokee Web Server

Cherokee is a very fast, flexible and rock-solid Web Server. It has a low memory footprint and is very easy to configure. It supports the widespread technologies nowadays: FastCGI, SCGI, PHP, CGI, SSI, TLS and SSL encrypted connections, Virtual hosts, Authentication, on the fly encoding, Apache compatible log files, and much more. It also offers a unique set of qualities that make it shine: an extremely efficient in-memory cache for static contents, integrated HTTP Load Balancing, Data Base Balancing, Reverse HTTP Proxy, Bandwidth Shaping, Audio and Video Streaming, transfer status reporting, uWSGI support, etc. Another thing that distinguishes it among every other competitor is the easy to use configuration graphical interface that allows to configure the server from top to bottom without having to edit a text configuration file. It is a modern, feature rich application that also provides configuration wizards for multiple applications and production scenarios. These wizards allow the configuration of the web server with little to no knowledge whatsoever.

Cherokee Summit 2010

Many of the core developers and members of the Community have joined forces during last weekend in Madrid, Spain, and have released the new version as a symbolic gesture after several years of development and constant improvements. The release 1.0 has been nicknamed “The Summit Release”, and the guidelines to the future Cherokee 2.0 have already been established. The first Cherokee Summit has proven to be a huge success. Lets see what the future brings for the next Summit, upcoming releases of the Cherokee Project, and the Community that has been steadily growing around it.
